"Kamal Aljafari's film follows his return to Ramle, in Israel, where his family was re-settled into another Palestinian family's home in 1948. The previous owners of the house left a half-built second floor that remains without a roof a generation later. Through fluid and striking cinematography and with a soundtrack that layers the soundscapes of Ramle, Jaffa, and Jerusalem, Aljafari's film meditates quietly on the role of built environments of all kinds in the histories, catastrophes, and everyday details of Palestinian life within Israel.
