Annette Beaufaÿs provided photographer Lois Lammerhuber with access into her dream factory, to accompany the many processes and techniques behind her masterpieces. Her stage ready artwork brought to life from sketches thanks to craftsmanship by tailors, painters and shoemakers. In addition to the design that should embody the role perfectly, the theatre costumes must also be of such high quality that the singers, actors and dancers who wear them can move around freely. Conversely they must also be robust enough to endure the strains and stresses of a year of performances. And they must of course also reflect naturalness and emotion. In adddition to this GLAMOUR shows how the big stars of the opera world, such as Edita Gruberova, try on their costumes with anticipation and how several of the most talented costume designers, such as Sue Blane - who designed costumes for the Rocky Horror Picture Show - develop their designs with passion and skill. The essays are by the Artistic Director of the Annette Beaufaÿs Costume Workshops and the Director of the Vienna State Opera Dominique Meyer. Glamour was printed in an edition of 3,000 and presented to the male visitors of the Vienna Opera Ball on Feb. 7, 2013 as a ball gift. It is the seventh book in a series exclusively photographed by Lois Lammerhuer with an opera related theme.
