A revised republication of the designs from Floral forms in historic design. The plates have been reorganized and a new publishers note added.
Originally published under: Floral forms in historic design. London : B.T. Batsford, Ltd., 1922.
More than 120 illustrations depict mainly roses and carnations, but also some fruit and almond blossoms, in an enormous variety of styles and configurations. Spanning 500 years of decorative design, from the 15th through the 19th centuries, these finely detailed motifs have been adapted from pottery, tiles, brocades, carpets, lacquered wood, embroidery, tapestries, and other art objects from around the world.
