Russo, who died in 1985, was a controversial figure in Australian journalism, taking provocative stances before and after he lived in Japan in the 1930s. His relentless criticism of Western intervention in anti-colonial movements in Asia and his hostility toward American foreign policy brought him to the attention of Australian security officials, who saw him first as a fascist and then a communist. Biographer Torney-Parlicki is a historian at the U. of Melbourne who has written widely on Australian journalism history. Distributed in the US by ISBS.
