During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln's (Jeff Morrow) the Emancipation Proclamation speech, January 1st, 1863, gives an ultimatum to the south to lay down their arms or set all slaves free. In the Gettysburg Address, November 19th, 1863, Abraham Lincoln (Paul Tripp) dedicates the cemetery memorializing the Union soldiers who died in battle. Prior to the speech, both northerners and southerners, including one of Grant's generals, General Sherman (Ray Walston) and the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis (Joseph Anthony) voice their confliciting opinions about the war.
